My Reflections on Primary School English Teaching

What were some of the challenges you faced in teaching primary school English?

Teaching primary school English posed several challenges for me. Firstly, the students had varying levels of proficiency in the language, which made it difficult to design lesson plans that catered to everyone's needs. Additionally, some students lacked motivation and interest in learning English, which made it challenging to keep them engaged during lessons.

How did you address these challenges?

To address the issue of varying levels of proficiency, I designed lesson plans that had different levels of difficulty so that students could work at their own pace. I also used group work and peer teaching to encourage students to help each other out. For the issue of motivation and interest, I tried to make the lessons fun and interactive by using games, songs, and videos that related to the students' interests.

What were some of the successes you achieved in teaching primary school English?

One of the biggest successes I achieved in teaching primary school English was seeing students who were initially disinterested in the language start to enjoy it. I also saw students who struggled with English in the beginning make significant progress and gain confidence in their abilities. Another success was having students apply what they had learned in class to real-life situations, such as ordering food at a restaurant or communicating with foreign visitors.
